Inside the BatteryMBA programme

    The Case Study Track

An optional, hands-on track where small groups of participants build a real recommendation on a live battery industry question over the final weeks of the cohort, supported by the BatteryMBA team. It runs on Wednesdays, alongside the core programme.

See the public write-ups in the case study library. Full case study documents and internal presentations stay inside the programme.

    How the track works

Three phases across the last third of the cohort, with roughly two hours per week of group work outside the scheduled sessions.

    Step 1

    Pick a live question

Groups choose from a shortlist of real battery industry questions: gigafactory build-vs-buy, BESS revenue stacking in a specific market, second-life economics, sodium-ion qualification, and more. Each question is scoped so it can be defended in 12 weeks.

    Step 2

    Build the recommendation

Teams gather public data, interview one or two industry contacts where useful, model the economics, and land on a clear recommendation with the trade-offs written out. The programme team reviews drafts and challenges the logic.

    Step 3

    Present and defend

In the final week, each group presents to peers and faculty and takes questions. The written case study document is submitted alongside the presentation and archived in the cohort library.

    What makes the track different

Not a case study you read. A recommendation your group builds, defends and puts on your certificate.

    Small groups, real teamwork

Teams of 2 to 5 participants self-organise around a shared question and split roles the way a real project would: research, financial model, market view, recommendation.

    Live Wednesday sessions

Case Study Track sessions run on Wednesdays alongside the main programme, with weekly check-ins from the BatteryMBA team to unblock groups and pressure-test assumptions.

    Weeks 11 to 12 deliverables

A 15 to 20 minute group presentation plus a written case study document (excluding exhibits), delivered in the final weeks of the cohort.

    On your certificate

Completion of the Case Study Track is recognised directly on the BatteryMBA graduation certificate, alongside the core programme.

    What you walk away with

    • A defensible recommendation on a live battery industry question you actually care about.
    • Direct feedback from BatteryMBA faculty and peers who work across cells, packs, BESS, EVs and recycling.
    • A finished written case study and presentation you can share with your team or in interviews.
    • Case Study Track completion recorded on your BatteryMBA graduation certificate.
