Why BESS leaders choose the full BatteryMBA, not a BESS-only course

Global BESS deployments crossed 100 GWh of new capacity in 2024 and are projected to grow at roughly 25% CAGR through 2030, driven by collapsing lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) prices, capacity-market reforms, and the structural need to firm intermittent wind and solar. ERCOT, CAISO, GB, AEMO and the Iberian market have each seen merchant storage become a primary capacity provider on tight days, while developers in the Middle East, India and Sub-Saharan Africa are pairing 4-hour systems directly with utility-scale PV to deliver dispatchable solar at sub-$50/MWh.

The leaders winning in this market are rarely the ones who only understand BESS. They understand cell supply, EV-driven chemistry roadmaps, recycling economics and OEM strategy, because all of those forces shape BESS pricing, availability and bankability. The BatteryMBA is built around that full value chain, with BESS-specific case studies, projects and peers woven throughout.

From cell to revenue: what the BatteryMBA covers for BESS practitioners

Participants work upward from the electrochemistry, LFP, NMC and emerging sodium-ion chemistries, through cell-to-pack and pack-to-container integration, PCS and transformer selection, SCADA and energy-management software, and the grid-code requirements that govern interconnection in each major market.

The commercial half of the curriculum covers revenue stacking across energy arbitrage, frequency response, capacity payments, ancillary services and resource adequacy; bankability requirements from tier-1 lenders; warranty and performance-guarantee structures; and the augmentation strategies that protect IRR over a 15-20 year asset life. BESS sits alongside EV, industrial and cell-manufacturing modules so you graduate with the full picture.

Safety, standards and the post-Moss-Landing era

High-profile incidents at Moss Landing, Vistra, and several European sites have made fire safety and standards literacy non-negotiable. The programme walks through NFPA 855, UL 9540 and UL 9540A test reports, IEC 62933, the latest FM Global data-sheet 5-33 updates, and the practical implications for spacing, deflagration venting, water suppression and emergency response planning, anchored in the cell-level fundamentals the BatteryMBA teaches up front.
